DESCRIPTION:School leaders are tasked with creating supportive learning environments for their students\, families\, and staff. Workshop participants will explore basic terminology and best practices for serving LGBTQ+ people and the programs and services available on Long Island. Attendees will also better understand their LGBTQ+ students and gain insight into working with students and parents. \nZenada Gordon\, PFY LGBTQ Services Coordinator\, manages all aspects of PFY’s Coffeehouse program\, a drop-in center for LGBTQ+ youth and allies ages 13 – 20 at the Bellmore location. Zenada coordinates PFY’s volunteer program and supervises Associate and Bachelor level interns. She also facilitates PFY’s TransAction & Queer Connect programs and conducts outreach for these services\, focusing on LGBTQ+ youth of color. He was the System’s spokesperson and was responsible for its publications\, website and media information. Previously\, he was the Coordinator of Pre-retirement Planning where he organized and implemented the System’s retirement planning seminar program\, which is a model for other systems throughout the country. Currently\, Dave is the Administrator of the National Pension Education Association and is a nationally-known presenter on retirement planning issues and programs for public employees. \nWe have received tremendous positive feedback from CAS members who have attended our previous Financial Literacy Workshops.
