In the new COVID-19 pandemic world we now live in, CAS Attorneys Brad Stuhler and Mike Starvaggi presented an informative Zoom conference on October 14th for CAS Unit Leaders from both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The workshop was well attended and provided many unit officers with the opportunity to discuss their concerns directly with Brad and Mike and gather input from other colleagues participating in the workshop.

The first part of the workshop was devoted to a discussion of a wide variety of concerns regarding COVID issues currently impacting school administrators on Long Island, including contact tracing, mandatory testing and vaccination requirements, and administrative liability. The latter part of the workshop focused on collective bargaining, contract negotiations, APPR, and representing members in disciplinary matters.

Brad and Mike provided real-world examples of unit leaders’ obligations and members’ rights while discussing disputes with districts. They also discussed improper labor practices and shared suggestions for conducting productive association meetings.

Additional CAS Professional Development Workshops are scheduled throughout the school year and communicated through email and the www.casliny.com website.
