In the new COVID-19 pandemic world we now live in CAS Attorneys Brad Stuhler and Mike Starvaggi presented an informative Zoom conference on October 15th for CAS Unit Leaders from both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The workshop was well attended and provided many unit officers with the opportunity to discuss their concerns directly with Brad and Mike as well as gather input from other colleagues participating in the workshop.

The first part of the workshop was devoted to a discussion of potential early retirement legislation as well as a wide variety of concerns regarding COVID issues currently impacting school administrators on Long Island including, COVID sick leave, emergency paid leave, reasonable accommodations, and high-risk individuals. The latter part of the workshop focused on representing members in disciplinary matters. Brad and Mike provided real-world examples of unit leaders’ obligations and members’ rights while discussing disputes with districts, including improper labor practices, past practice, collective bargaining, and tips for conducting productive association meetings.

Additional CAS Professional Development Workshops are scheduled throughout the school year and communicated through email and the website.

If you were unable to attend the workshop and would like a copy of the presentation, please email Demetria at and she will send you a copy of the PowerPoint!
