Blue Ribbon Award 2014

U. S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School Award Winners

Council of Administrators (CAS) Presidents’ Dinner

Holiday Inn, Plainview – November 4, 2014

CAS recently recognized the Glenwood Landing Elementary School in the North Shore CSD and Principal, Mrs. Bridget Finder for being named a U. S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School Award Winner.  Principal Finder and the President of the North Shore School Administrators Association, Ms. Carol Ann Smyth, were presented with a CAS Achievement Award by CAS President, Tony Laurino, at the Annual Council of Administrators (CAS) Presidents’ Dinner held on November 4, 2014 at the Holiday Inn in Plainview.

Since 1982 The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has been recognizing public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ levels of academic achievement.  A National Blue Ribbon School flag waving overhead has become a trademark of excellence, a symbol of quality recognized by everyone from parents to policy-makers in thousands of communities. Schools honored with the Blue Ribbon School Award are recognized for their commitment to accelerating student achievement and preparing students for success in college and careers. Blue Ribbon Schools are recognized among their state’s highest performing schools, as measured by state assessments or nationally-normed tests.

The Council of Administrators and Supervisors congratulates all of the 290 public and 50 private schools nationwide honored with this award in 2014 and are especially proud to note that the Glenwood Landing School is a member of the CAS Long Island family.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan presented Mrs. Finder the National Blue Ribbon plaque and flag to fly proudly over the Glenwood Landing School on November 10 – 11 at the National Blue Ribbon Award Ceremony held annually in Washington D.C.
