Dr. Michael Fama of Comsewogue is the ESSAA 2023
Nassau / Suffolk Administrator of the Year
The Empire State Supervisors and Administrators Association (ESSAA) is proud to announce that Dr. Michael Fama, longtime principal of the John F. Kennedy Middle School in Comsewogue is the Empire State Supervisors and Administrators Association (ESSAA) Nassau / Suffolk 2023 Administrator of the Year.
CAS is the largest professional organization representing public school administrators on Long Island, with nearly 1500 members employed in over 70 school districts throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The awards selection committee reviewed several experienced and accomplished candidates but ultimately chose Dr. Fama for his untiring efforts on behalf of the students, families, and staff in the Comsewogue School District. The committee noted his career-long success as a Mathematics teacher in the East Meadow School District and as Assistant Principal at Lindenhurst Junior High School and was impressed with his distinguished twenty-year career as the John F. Kennedy Middle School Principal
In addition to teaching and motivating future school leaders at St. Joseph’s University in Patchogue, Dr. Fama has ably served his colleagues for many years as the President of the Comsewogue Administrators’ Association, guiding them through numerous successful negotiations that have resulted in a stable and secure working environment.
Finally, the selection committee noted Dr. Fama’s extraordinary efforts in guiding JFK Middle School through the recent pandemic and bolstering the reputation of the Comsewogue Schools by achieving and maintaining Middle States Accreditation.
As the recipient of the ESSAA 2023 Administrator of the Year Award for Long Island, Dr. Fama was honored at the ESSAA Annual Awards Dinner at The Saratoga Hilton 534 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.
