Mr. John Zampaglione of Levittown is the ESSAA 2024
Nassau / Suffolk Administrator of the Year
The Empire State Supervisors and Administrators Association (ESSAA) is proud to announce that Mr. John Zampaglione, principal of the Jonas Salk Middle School in Levittown is the Empire State Supervisors and Administrators Association (ESSAA) Nassau / Suffolk 2024 Administrator of the Year.
CAS is the largest professional organization representing public school administrators on Long Island, with nearly 1500 members employed in over 70 school districts throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The awards selection committee reviewed several experienced and worthy candidates but ultimately chose John Zampaglione for his untiring efforts on behalf of his students and staff in the Levittown School District
since 1993. The committee heard from his colleagues about his outstanding leadership skills and passion for creating the best educational environment for the students and staff at Salk Middle School. Our award committee was impressed with his career-long success in Levittown as a science teacher, science department chair, assistant principal, and now principal of the Jonas Salk Middle School. In addition to coaching the Science Olympiad Team, Soccer, and Wrestling, he has somehow found the time to be a volunteer coach for his children in his home school district and has been active in his local parish CYO.
In addition, John has capably served for many years as the Vice President of the Levittown Administrators’ Association, guiding his colleagues through numerous negotiations that have protected and benefitted the members. Since 2016, he has diligently worked as Vice President of the Council of Administrators and Supervisors as the CAS Liaison to our stakeholder meetings with Commissioner Rosa and her staff, bringing the voices of Long Island’s practicing public school administrators to Albany.
John is an admired and revered husband, dad, friend, and colleague who is more than worthy of this recognition.
