CAS congratulates Bethpage, Manhasset and Shoreham-Wading River Schools for earning National Blue Ribbon Awards

CAS is honored to recognize Bethpage High School and Shoreham-Wading River High School for winning national recognition from the U. S. Department of Education as National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence. In addition to all of the students, staff, and parents at each school, CAS extends special congratulations to

Bethpage Senior High School Principal, Nicholas Jantz; Assistant Principals, Kevin Healy and Ralph Tocco, and their entire HS Leadership Team.

Shoreham-Wading River High School Principal, Frank Pugliese and Assistant Principal, John Holownia and their entire HS Leadership Team.

Both schools earned designation as Exemplary High Performing Schools, and were honored by the US Department of Education national recognition ceremony at the Omni Shoreham Hotel on Nov. 14 – 15 in Washington, D.C.

Since 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has recognized public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ levels of academic achievement.  A National Blue Ribbon School flag waving overhead has become a trademark of excellence, a symbol of quality recognized by everyone from parents to policy-makers in thousands of communities. Schools honored with the Blue Ribbon School Award are recognized for their commitment to accelerating student achievement and preparing students for success in college and careers. Blue Ribbon Schools are recognized among their state’s highest-performing schools, as measured by state assessments or nationally-normed tests.

In addition to congratulating this year’s winners from Long Island, the Council of Administrators and Supervisors commend all of the 325 schools nationwide, including 19 in New York State, honored this year with this award.
