Lakeville Elementary School Principal, Mrs. Emily Zucal, Assistant Principal, Mrs. Neepa Redito, and the entire Lakeville Leadership Team.
South Grove Elementary School Principal, Ms. Mi Jung An, and the entire South Grove Leadership Team.
Each school earned an Exemplary High Performing School designation and will be honored at the U.S. Department of Education’s national recognition ceremony this November in Washington, D.C.
Since 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has recognized public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are evident in students’ levels of academic achievement. A National Blue Ribbon School flag waving overhead has become a trademark of excellence, a symbol of quality recognized by everyone from parents to policymakers in thousands of communities. Schools honored with the Blue Ribbon School Award are recognized for their commitment to accelerating student achievement and preparing students for success in college and careers. Blue Ribbon Schools are recognized among their state’s highest-performing schools, as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
New York State Education Commissioner Betty A. Rosa said, “The National Blue Ribbon School recognition celebrates schools that demonstrate a commitment to excellence and highlights the critical need to expand access to high-quality educational opportunities, which significantly improves student outcomes. By inspiring and empowering students while fostering a passion for learning, these schools serve as shining examples for all educational institutions throughout New York State.”
In addition to congratulating this year’s Long Island winners, the Council of Administrators and Supervisors commends all the 356 schools nationwide, including 21 in New York State, awarded ribbons this year!
