Workshop 1

CAS attorneys Brad Stuhler and Michael Starvaggi recently conducted a series of informative workshops for unit presidents and executive board members over a two day period centered on the New APPR regulations. The first workshop was held after school on September 16th at the CAS Office in Hauppauge with two more workshops presented in the morning and afternoon on Thursday September 17th at the nearby Holiday Inn Express. The attorneys provided legal guidance for upcoming negotiations and fielded important questions from the participants. The attorneys also provided helpful suggestions to enhance local unit visibility and identity within their school communities. All in all, the over 75 CAS local unit presidents and executive board members who attended the workshops left with helpful guidance and sample plans for the upcoming APPR negotiations as well as practical suggestions for strengthening unit effectiveness.

Workshop materials were later sent to CAS unit presidents who were unable to attend. If you would like an additional copy of the “New APPR: Where do we go from here?” or a copy of the “Topics of Concern for Unit Presidents and Local Units”, please contact our office manager, Demetria Marino, at casinfo@caslongisland.com and she will be happy to provide you with them.
