On Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the Radisson Hotel in Hauppauge, Ed Kemnitzer, Director of Technology, Innovation and Information Services for East Williston District, presented “LEVERAGING SOCIAL MEDIA AND DIGITAL TOOLS TO DEEPEN NETWORKS AND TELL STUDENTS’ STORIES.  This was a well-attended CTLE workshop which provided the participants with suggestions on how to effectively use social media tools like Twitter, Instagram, and Storify.  Ed shared his enthusiasm, creativity, and passion for communal learning, school branding, and developing professional learning networks. He emphasized the importance of global connectedness and how it can enhance student learning as well as the role of networked intelligence on leadership. Many attendees remained afterward to ask Mr. Kemnitzer additional questions regarding specific social media learning tools.

CAS is a certified NYSED Continuing Teacher Leader Education (CTLE) sponsor, and all successful participants earned two (2) hours of CTLE professional development credit applicable toward the hours needed for continuing certification.
