On November 17th CAS sponsored CAS Retirement Planning Workshop at the Huntington Hilton an educational and well attended after school workshop focused on Financial Literacy and Retirement Planning at the Long Island Huntington Hilton Hotel in Melville.  Andrew Buttelman, from the Legend Group, along with guest speaker David Daly provided over 40 CAS members present with important information about their New York State Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS) pension benefits, long-term financial planning, and Social Security.  David Daly was the New York Teachers Retirement system spokesperson and the Coordinator of Pre-Retirement Planning for many years and is a well-respected expert on the NYS pension system.  Topics discussed included; understanding all pension tiers; benefit calculations; choosing a retirement option; understanding your in-service death benefit, prior service and out of state service. How to shelter unused sick days, and employer-sponsored non-elective and elective 403(B) plans were also discussed.  The program ran from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with refreshments served and many members remaining afterward to ask Andrew and David personal questions.

Members unable to attend this workshop who wish to find out more about college and retirement planning may contact Andrew Buttelman directly at:
