TEACHER OBSERVATIONS:  PROCESS, PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES

This CAS workshop will focus on the techniques and strategies that administrators can use to help teachers extend and refine their teaching and assessment practices as part of the observation and supervision process. The Framework for Teaching rubric by Charlotte Danielson will be the primary rubric used in the workshop, but reference will be made to other approved NYS rubrics as well. Participants will come away with specific strategies for the pre and post conference discussions as well as the process for writing up the observation for the improvement of practice.

Andy Greene is the Principal of Candlewood Middle School in the Half Hollow Hills School District in Dix Hills, NY. He is past president of The Long Island Chapter of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (LIASCD) and is the current president of the Suffolk County Middle Level Principal Association. In addition, he acts as a middle level liaison with the NY State Education Department, and is an adjunct professor at Stony Brook University. Andy also serves as Co-president of the Administrators Association in the Half Hollow Hills School District.

Andy’s work in Candlewood Middle School is featured in Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe’s new book titled “Schooling by Design”.

This workshop is at no cost for all administrators.
