With member interest high, CAS sponsored additional retirement workshops on Wednesday and Thursday, April 19^th an 20^th at the Melville Marriott Hotel entitled “Will I be Ready and Able to Retire as Planned?” The workshops focused on Financial Literacy and Retirement Planning. Andrew Buttelman and guest speaker David Daly provided CAS members and others with valuable information about their New York State Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS) and Employees Retirement System (ERS) pension benefits, long-term financial planning, and Social Security. David Daly is a well-respected expert on the NYS pension system who, for many years, was the spokesperson of the New York Teachers Retirement System and the Coordinator of Pre-Retirement Planning services. 

Topics discussed included choosing a retirement option, understanding your in-service death benefit, prior service and out of state service, unused sick days, employer-sponsored non-elective and elective 403(B) plans, understanding all pension tiers, and member benefit calculations.
