Bridging Borders in Education – Supporting Multilingual Learners – March 20, 2025

March 20 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

“Bridging Borders in Education: Supporting Multilingual Learners” aims to provide effective strategies for integrating multilingual learners (MLs) into mainstream classrooms. This workshop is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to create inclusive and effective learning environments for students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Recognizing and addressing the needs of multilingual learners is crucial for fostering a dynamic and inclusive educational experience. Participants will explore practical strategies to support language development, cultural responsiveness, and academic success for students who bring diverse linguistic assets to the classroom. This workshop presents a unique opportunity to enhance your teaching toolkit, connect with colleagues facing similar challenges, and improve your ability to cultivate an inclusive and equitable learning environment in your school.

Dr. Nicki K. Gonias is an experienced educator and researcher specializing in

Multilingual Learners (MLs) and their educational experiences. She serves as a district

instructional leader in the Mineola Public Schools, overseeing the PreK-12 curriculum and

coaching and supporting teachers. She also provides professional learning opportunities

for staff and has joined the Molloy Ed.D faculty as an adjunct instructor for the Quantitative

Research course.

A Zoom link and a text reminder will be sent to all registrants a few days before the workshop.

This workshop is free to all CAS administrators. CAS is a certified NYSED Continuing Teacher Leader Education (CTLE) sponsor, and successful participants will earn one (1) hour of CTLE professional development credit applicable toward the hours needed for continuing certification for each session.
