School leaders are tasked with creating supportive learning environments for their students, families, and staff. Workshop participants will explore basic terminology and best practices for serving LGBTQ+ people and the programs and services available on Long Island. Attendees will also better understand their LGBTQ+ students and gain insight into working with students and parents.

Zenada Gordon, PFY LGBTQ Services Coordinator, manages all aspects of PFY’s Coffeehouse program, a drop-in center for LGBTQ+ youth and allies ages 13 – 20 at the Bellmore location. Zenada coordinates PFY’s volunteer program and supervises Associate and Bachelor level interns. She also facilitates PFY’s TransAction & Queer Connect programs and conducts outreach for these services, focusing on LGBTQ+ youth of color. Zenada carries a caseload of counseling and case management clients and is available to assist clients with Name & Gender Marker Changes and Letters of Support for Gender Affirming Medical Care.
