NYS Next Generation Learning Standards Conference – November 30

The New York State Education Department is pleased to present a conference titled “NYS Next Generation Learning Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics: Supporting All Students”, to be held on November 30, 2017 at the City Center, Saratoga Springs, NY from 7:30 am-4:00 pm. This event will provide New York State (NYS) administrators and teachers with a one-day professional learning opportunity to strengthen theoretical and practical knowledge to implement high quality, academically rigorous standards for all NYS students. This learning initiative is part of a system-wide approach to promote equal access to advanced literacy for all NYS learners while capitalizing on linguistic and cultural diversity. Participants will be provided with guidance and resources that deepen their knowledge and understanding of the NYS Next Generation English Language Arts and Mathematics Learning Standards, support in their instructional practice, and additional guidance on achieving a vision of 21st century literacy for all learners.
The conference will consist of a Keynote speaker, Dr. Nonie Lesaux of Harvard University, followed by skill-building workshops intended to target content area instruction across all grade levels, meeting the needs of NYS’s diverse subpopulations, and fostering advanced literacy and academic skills among English Language Learners/Multilingual Learners and Students with Disabilities.
This professional learning opportunity is offered to NYS educators and administrators and can be used to fulfill CTLE. There is no cost for registration.
