12 MONTH PROBATIONARY TRACK POSITION BEGINNING JULY 1, 2019
The Rye City School District seeks an experienced, energetic, innovative and outcome-oriented district leader to become the Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services. Director will oversee and provide support for all aspects of a comprehensive elementary and secondary program for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with Federal and State Regulations. Oversees all district health services including nursing staff.
Qualifications include: Proven instructional leader with at least three years of experience as a Building or District Leader of Special Education;
Classroom teaching experience, building positive relationships with families and staff, designing and providing professional development for teachers and administrators and knowledge of inclusive practices preferred.
Successful experience planning, organizing and directing the implementation of special education and student support services programs including coordination of Out of District Special Education Placements;
Solid knowledge of curricular and instructional trends and best practices as related to Special Education and PPS including NYS Learning Standards, CCSS, IDEA, and RTI;
Demonstrated ability in the identification, diagnosis, planning, programming, placement and assessment of students with disabilities;
Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills required;
Valid New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification required.
