As you may have heard, there is an active Bill regarding a retirement incentive for certain New York State public employees. A copy of the Bill can be found HERE.
Our lobbyists have asked CAS and ESSAA Counsel to review the Bill so that they can attempt to provide input before it is finalized. Upon our initial review, it seems that the Bill would only apply to positions that are being eliminated or for which the District will make up the salary by reductions within two years. This would mean the law would have little impact on our membership. We are continuing to review the Bill and discussing it with our lobbyists so that we can attempt to have it be more impactful for our members prior to passage.
