Last week, nearly 50 enthusiastic new and probationary public school administrators from over 30 Long Island school districts participated in a virtual CAS workshop designed to help them successfully navigate their probationary assignments.  This latest CAS New and Probationary Public School Administrator ZOOM Workshop was presented by CAS Attorneys Brad Stuhler and Paul Pagano. The large number of probationers attending this year’s workshop reflects the growing number of newer public school administrators now working throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

The first part of the workshop examined the legal aspects of administrative tenure, seniority, and the frequent workplace pitfalls new administrators confront. The second part of the workshop focused on concerns regarding school safety, student discipline, and other common workplace issues facing new administrators. Brad and Paul provided practical guidance, best practices, and common-sense strategies for success through scenarios involving students, staff, and parents based on their recent experiences.

CAS provided this workshop free of charge to all participants. CAS is a certified NYSED Continuing Teacher Leader Education (CTLE) sponsor, and successful participants earned two (2) hours of CTLE professional development credit applicable toward the hours needed for continuing certification.

Additional CAS CTLE Workshops are scheduled throughout the school year and communicated through email and the www.casliny.com website.
