The New York State Board of Regents presented Dr. Daniel Holtzman, Principal of Great Neck North High School, with the 2024-25 Louis E. Yavner Teaching and Citizen Award at the January Regents meeting for his outstanding contributions to New York State education about the Holocaust.

The award recognizes an educator and citizen who has made an outstanding contribution to New York State education about the Holocaust and other human rights violations.

The awards were established by the Regents and funded by the late Regent Emeritus Louis E. Yavner.
